What is Positive Aid for Kids

PAKs is for the public benefit. The relief of children throughout England diagnosed with Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy, their families and carers by operating a support group. Signposting services and by the award of grants to fund the provision of essential specialist equipment, other items and fun day trips and experiences to relieve isolation.

Every penny raised goes to PAKS and we operate solely on a voluntary basis providing direct help where we can.

We are keen to work as a close group supporting children and families

And welcome any suggestions to improve our service.

We have children in our lives with Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy which is a genetic degenerative muscle wasting disease.

We became involved with various groups of families with the same condition and it became apparent that there was a lack of support for our kids, especially when it came to getting basic equipment that the children need. For example shoes that fit over AFOS easily, or a hill-rom vest system that can be essential when your child has a cold or chest infection. We also knew how isolating it can be to have a disabled child.

So we decided we wanted to help in any way we could and the idea of Positive Aids for Kids ( PAKS ) was born

We are an organization that will help provide much needed equipment and aids for kids at a fraction of the cost, in some circumstances we will donate the item.

It does not necessarily have to be a medical item, it can be anything from a book to a tree tent. Its about helping kids have better lives.

We cannot guarantee success every time but will do our best to help in any way we can.
